The results are in and I want to thank everybody who participated. I got an "A" on the project!!!
Without going into statistician's language, here's what the responses boiled down to:
1. Preferred Company For Riding: Suzuki Savage Riders generally are loners. We don't place much importance on riding in groups, or on riding with our SO's (either two-up or on different bikes).
2. Preferred Riding Environment: 97% prefer riding in a rural environment and 88% prefer to take scenic routes. The majority are indifferent to city riding and light traffic. Interestingly enough, traffic density is the only issue in which female responses differed significantly from male responses: Female riders were even more indifferent to traffic density than male riders!
3. Preferred Length of Ride: The majority of riders surveyed preferred day trips on the Savage although 37% did consider overnight trips important.
4. Preferred Riding Style: 84% of those surveyed considered hills and curves or other riding challenges to be important. However, 22% did consider riding fast and far to be important.
5. Purpose for Riding: The majority stated they ride their Savages for fun; however, 28% of respondants said they use it as their principal means of transportation.
6. Preferred Knowledge Level (Mechanical/Repairs): 62.5% of riders surveyed said they would prefer knowing how to do most of the mechanic work themselves (or learning how to); but 72% said they would prefer to leave major repairs to the pros.
7. Preferred Level of Customization: Only 28% of the riders surveyed were interested in customizing the Savage for show; but the majority considered it important to do some minor customization to make their rides better fit themselves and their riding styles.

I was very surprised at the lack of differences between the genders here. I'm not sure what exactly that means, except that I obviously had some bias going into this study because I expected to find some gender-differentiated responses!

Ride safe, all, and thanks again.
-Lisa
